According to architectural historian David Gebhard: "The high point of architecture and design in the L.A. area occurred in 1939 and
1940". Noted sculptor Ada Mae Sharpless, famous for her Art Deco "Lady of the Lake" in Echo Park, shared in this efflorescent time
artistically specifying a high ceilinged loft for her studio/residence overlooking the City. Today with its volumes, the space lives large.
Much like the Cedric Gibbons house in Santa Monica Canyon, the house presents a nearly blank façade to the street. Upon entry one
sees the two story living room from behind the sleeping loft. Drama is enhanced by the compression of the overhead loft, and expansion
of the space as one enters the living room. Kitchen, dining area, office, and media room are arranged in an open plan that flows to the
terrace, pool, and City to Ocean sunset views. Additionally incorporated are the master suite, guest bath, and direct entry 2 car garage.
